Theme: The Molecular Story of the XIAP Protein
The 2012 Science Olympiad Protein Modeling Event focused on Nic Volker, an incredibly resilient little boy and a team of physicians and researchers who who searched for an explanation for his mysterious bowel disease.
In 2012 teams will modeled proteins involved in the regulation of apoptosis, using the story of the discovery and treatment of a rare genetic mutation as a guide.
