capturing energy from the sun

Most cells on the Earth are powered by the sun. Plant cells and some bacteria capture light and use it to power the photosynthesis of sugars. The rest of the cells on Earth power themselves, either directly or indirectly, via consumption of these photosynthesizing cells. Atomic structures have revealed the fine details of how photosynthetic molecules harness the energy of sunlight and feed the world.
