This year’s event focuses on the CRISPR bacterial adaptive immunity system and base editing using cytidine deaminase. Students will learn about identification of this adaptive immune system in nature, structural basis for cytidine deamination and specificity, and programmable editing of a target base in genomic DNA without double-stranded DNA cleavage.
